First, the thing that catches people out: there's no visa on arrival in Thailand for ordinary Bangladeshi passports. You need the visa before you board. The good news is that since January 2025 the whole thing is online. There's no passport submission and no queue at a visa centre in Gulshan.
The short version
- Apply on the official site, thaievisa.go.th, and nowhere else
- Allow around 10 working days, and apply 3–4 weeks before you fly
- A tourist visa usually gives up to 60 days per entry. Check what's printed on yours
- Fill in the TDAC arrival card online in the 3 days before you land
What you'll need
- A passport valid for 6+ months, with two blank pages
- A recent photo with a white background
- Your return ticket booking
- Hotel bookings for the whole trip (or an invitation letter)
- Six months of bank statements, plus a solvency certificate from your branch
- Proof you have a reason to come back: an NOC and leave letter from your employer, a trade licence if you run a business, or a student ID
About the bank balance: Thailand's commonly quoted minimum is 20,000 baht per person, roughly ৳75,000. Treat that as a floor, not a target. A steady statement that looks like your normal life does better than a big number that appeared last week.
How the application works
1. Create an account on thaievisa.go.th, choose Bangladesh and the Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka, then pick Tourist Visa.
2. Fill in the form exactly as your passport reads, including the spelling of your name and your date of birth. Upload each document in the size and format the site asks for. Blurry phone scans are a common reason for delays.
3. Pay the fee. From Bangladesh you don't pay by card on the Thai site. The system gives you a payment summary, and you pay through the approved bank link. The Daily Star reported this as Commercial Bank of Ceylon's Thai e-visa page. Cash payments at the counter aren't accepted, so keep the receipt.
4. Wait. About 10 working days is typical, but it's slower before Eid and in December. Check your email, including spam, in case the embassy asks for something else.
5. Print the approved e-visa and keep it with your passport.
Before you fly: the TDAC
Thailand replaced the old paper arrival card with the Thailand Digital Arrival Card. It's free and takes about five minutes on the official immigration site (tdac.immigration.go.th). Do it within the 3 days before you land, and keep the confirmation on your phone.
At Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang
Have your printed visa, return ticket and hotel booking ready. Immigration sometimes asks how long you're staying and how much cash you have, so keep your answers short and clear.
Why applications get refused
- A thin or suspicious bank statement, especially big deposits just before applying
- Nothing showing you'll come back: no job letter, no business papers
- Unreadable uploads
- Names or dates that don't match across documents
- A past overstay anywhere
Common questions
Can Bangladeshis get a Thailand visa on arrival?
No. Ordinary passport holders have to get the visa in advance, and the e-visa is the normal route.
How long does it take from Dhaka?
Usually around 10 working days after payment. Give yourself 3–4 weeks.
If you'd rather not do this alone, we'll check every document before you submit, and we can book your flights and hotels at the same time.
